Heather Smith & The Constants

Band Bios:

Heather Smith was raised around good music. Her Appalachian family was always playing and singing old-timey country and bluegrass, a tradition that traveled up the Hillbilly Highway along with her grandparents into her Detroit, Michigan childhood. The music, culture, and food is shared musically with her audience through her relatable, authentic lyrics and soulful melodies.

After singing backup in a local country cover band where she first met Paul Giovine, Heather was inspired to create her own cover band, Glitter & Camo. Paul became her drummer for that band, and later, musical collaborator. In 2024, Heather began recording and releasing her own original music.

Since then, Heather’s discography has gained over 250k streams across platforms since her first original record, Stronger, was released. Heather’s music has been featured three times on 92.5 The River’s Homegrown Music Showcase in the Boston area, and on several other local and national radio shows, podcasts, and music publications. Heather and her band, The Constants, are also actively recording new music in her home studio, Blue22 Studio, located in Southern New Hampshire.

Drummer Paul Giovine studied Music Education at UCONN and Music Performance at The Berklee College of Music. He was the house drummer at Boston’s infamous Dick’s Last Resort (1994-2001) performing over 200 shows a year. Paul recorded and toured with various bands including Blue Eyed Soul, Darling Picassos, Trick Wallace Trio, The Rob Gonzalez Band and Bees Deluxe and has opened for artists such as Bo Diddley, Jerry Lee Lewis, Letters to Cleo, Gin Blossoms and Kofi Baker. In 2022 he co-founded Glitter & Camo with Heather and in 2025 they partnered again for Blue22 Productions with the goal of writing, recording and releasing self-produced original music.

Craig Farrington became interested in playing guitar after seeing The Kingsmen of “Louie, Louie” fame perform at a local amusement park and, like millions, his interest only grew after seeing The Beatles on The Ed Sullivan Show. Craig played in bands throughout high school and in his freshman year at UMASS accepted a road gig with bluesman “Vast” Ed Vadas. After performing steadily for years throughout New York and New England, Craig left the road to get married and pursue other opportunities.

The lure of music, however, never left and he continued performing in working blues bands, country bands and teaching guitar. Since landing the gig in Heather’s former cover band, Glitter & Camo, Craig has been “having a blast” crafting guitar parts and contributing to Heather’s original music along with the rest of her talented band.

Bassist Doug Sparks was the singer and songwriter for the NYC-based Pipeliner, a Country and Delta Blues inspired punk band that played such historic clubs as CBGB, Mercury Lounge and Coney Island High. He lives in Nashua, NH, and his non-musical pastimes include drinking coffee, hunting mushrooms, and spending time with his family.

Patrick Fleming grew up on country music as the second son of Okie parents in Richmond, California. Like any self-respecting rebellious teenager with redneck parents, he loved Minor Threat and Blatz, as well as Buck, Waylon and Willie, and his Mom’s favorite, Dolly. After playing drums and guitar in various punk bands throughout the 90’s and 2000’s including Port Noise Complaint, Sleight of Hand, and The Weather Machines, Patrick and good friend John Waylon Miller decided to get back to their country roots and started J. Waylon and his Miller Lite Orchestra to play country covers.

Since you can’t have a country band without a steel or fiddle player, and neither was to be found, Patrick bought a steel guitar and never looked back. He plays steel more than anything else these days and has played and recorded with bands such as the Emmery Villains, Deere John Doe, and Diaphane. Patrick moved to New England in the summer of ’25 and is thrilled to join up with the fun and talented Heather Smith & The Constants.
